Gates - Timber

So you have a timber paling fence and there is still access from your front yard to your backyard. We have a range of gates available for your needs. Older style gates were made with a timber frame, but the lifespan of this type of gate is not high. Timber gates to match a timber fence are now made with a steel frame to support the palings. This ensures a long life for the gate. They are available as double swing gates for driveways as well.

Corral style Timber fence

This style has been around since the sixties and has gone in and out of style since then. This fence still gets varied responses, some people love it and some dislike it. This fence has pros and cons like any fence does. Pro's include 1.It allows air movement through it. 2. Attractive and, giving long neat lines. 3. Great fencing on steep slopes. Con's include 1.It can be seen through on some angles but this can be compensated by board overlap. This fence has 10mm overlap and cannot be seen through. 2. Animals can get through the gaps. 3.It is easily climbed over by criminals. This fence could make a comeback as an option in fence design and application. You be the judge!

Retaining walls

The wall after repair

Too many homeowners do not allow enough money for a well constructed retaining wall and this leads to disasters. Too often soil that needs to be retained is given a quick fix short term solution. Councils require a certain standard to prevent accidents. This one below would never have passed an inspection when it was built.

The wall before repair

A properly built timber upright retaining wall (using timber as in ground supports) is suitable but will rot and weaken in a relatively short time. Using Steel H beams (RSJ) is recommended for a long life span on a retaining wall.
